Janae's Pottery is a black & queer owned handmade pottery business based in Mishawaka, Indiana. 

I was introduced to pottery in 2014 when I took my first ceramics class during high school. This introduction initiated an interest that resulted in me spending the remaining 2 years of my high school career taking multiple semesters of ceramics classes. After graduating in 2016, pottery was unfortunately put on hold as I focused on my collegiate studies. I enrolled at Jackson College in Jackson, MI where I majored in Business Administration and played on the schools soccer team. In 2018, I transferred to Bethel University in Mishawaka, IN, continuing my collegiate soccer career and business major. In 2020 I received my Bachelors in Business Administration.

Soon after  graduating college, I rediscovered my enjoyment for pottery and was fortunate enough to be able to create handmade pieces and explore my talent. Throughout this journey I have discovered that progress is anything but linear and trial and error is a huge contributor when associated with art and entrepreneurship. I'm incredibly greatful for the mentors and fellow potters who continue to help me throughout my pottery journey. Although I have so much more to learn, I have also learned more than I can imagine and I am excited to continue sharing my work with you all!
